Philosophy & Goals

  • We believe that our primary task is to enhance, support, and strengthen a child’s self-esteem.
  • We believe that children learn by doing--through play.
  • We provide a safe and healthy environment, which instills a sense of security.
  • We help children develop personal self-control, independence, and the ability to make choices.
  • We encourage a sense of cooperative empathy and respect for all children and adults without regard to race, religion, color, handicap, age, sex, or national origin. - Revised 04/06
  • We implement new experiences in our curriculum to develop creativity and awareness of the environment, arts, and cultures. We also include experiences to develop social, emotional, physical, and intellectual skills.
  • We recognize that each child is an individual and present a variety of activities and flexibility in responses to meet varying needs of individual children.
  • We support children’s natural love of learning and build upon the cognitive skills that are introduced through play activities. Activities vary from the simple to the complex in order to provide both success and challenge.
  •
  • We include several approaches to guidance including restructuring of the environment, redirection, positive reinforcement, logical consequences, and “cool-off” time (when all other forms of guidance are ineffective).
  • We acknowledge the parent as the primary educator of the child and work toward enhancement of parental goals.
  • We encourage parent involvement.
